EPI Partner Orientations in South Africa

For the last several weeks, Dr. Pamina Firchow and I have met with our EPI partners from Uganda, Zimbabwe and South Sudan in Cape Town, South Africa, to conduct partner-specific orientations to the EPI project. During this time, we also have met extensively with our South African partners at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), who have graciously hosted us in Cape Town.

During the first week of orientations,  we met with Evelyn Akullo Otwili from the Justice and Reconciliation Project (JRP), our Uganda partner. For three days, we learned more about each others’ work and background, selected communities in which to implement the EPI project, discussed our focus group research guide and methodology, and developed short- and long-term process plans to guide the project’s implementation in Uganda.

At the end of the orientation, Evelyn also met with staff from the IJR and shared information on her work with victims in northern Uganda in a public seminar at IJR’s offices.
