Omar Salem

Omar Salem is a researcher-practitioner based in Bujumbura, Burundi. He has more than 13 years of experience leading research and M&E processes for humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding organizations. His work focuses on how communities define, measure, and use evidence of change in peacebuilding, social cohesion, and governance. He brings experience with community-generated indicators, participatory action research, complex systems science, and evaluating AI tools and workflows for peacebuilding practice. Omar is a member of the Grounded Accountability Model Community of Practice (GAM CoP) and the Council on Technology and Social Cohesion. He holds an M.A. in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey
