(1) Photovoice Manager (Colombia)

  • We are seeking a Bogotá-based photographer or photojournalist with a social science background to manage a participatory photovoice project in three regions of Colombia. In articulation with the Colombian Truth Commission, Brandeis University (USA) and CIASE (Colombia), we are collecting local, everyday indicators in several regions of Colombia and using photography to promote critical dialogue and hold community exhibitions on reconciliation and justice in everyday life. Photovoice is a powerful storytelling tool that draws on the transformative potential of images to help community members reflect on and articulate their experiences and perspectives in new and meaningful ways. We are seeking an experienced photographer and/or social scientist with experience in and/or deep knowledge of photovoice, participatory visual methods or community facilitation to lead a six-month fieldwork process during the first half of 2020.
  • Estamos buscando un fotógrafo o reportero gráfico con experiencias en ciencias sociales para manejar un proyecto de fotovoz participativo en tres regiones de Colombia. En articulación con la Comisión de la Verdad, la Universidad Brandeis (EE.UU.) y CIASE (Colombia), estamos recopilando indicadores locales y cotidianos en varias regiones de Colombia y utilizando la fotografía para promover el diálogo crítico y realizar exposiciones comunitarias sobre la reconciliación y la justicia en la vida cotidiana. Fotovoz es una poderosa herramienta de narración de historias que aprovecha el potencial transformador de las imágenes para ayudar a los miembros de la comunidad a reflexionar y articular sus experiencias y perspectivas de maneras nuevas y significativas. Estamos buscando un fotógrafo y/o científico social con experiencia y conocimiento profundo de la metodología fotovoz, los métodos visuales participativos o la facilitación comunitaria para dirigir un proceso de trabajo de campo de seis meses durante la primera mitad de 2020.

(2) Research Associate (USA or Colombia)

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented research associate with expertise in surveys and quantitative research, to join us on a research project based at The Heller School for Social Policy at Brandeis University in Boston, MA. In this project, we are collecting local, everyday indicators of reconciliation and justice in several regions of Colombia and building digital surveys to assess the impact of key domestic transitional justice institutions. With support from the National Science Foundation, United States Institute of Peace and Humanity United, we are now expanding our project and our teams in both the U.S. and Colombia. The expanded project will cover more regions in Colombia, include a participatory photography process, and draw on reports, workshops, conferences and photography exhibits to influence decision-makers and promote sustainable peace in Colombia.
