Icononzo was one of the towns heavily affected by violence and coercion during the decades from the 1980s to 2010. The inhabitants lived in constant fear, as the 25th Front of the FARC dominated this territory, only allowing the native people of this municipality to enter and leave. However, after this conflict, today this municipality tells a different story, enjoying a fresh atmosphere more than seven years after the peace agreements were signed. We invite you to the ‘balcony of the east of Tolima’, where you will find enterprising, welcoming, and generous people; hundreds of tourists, and good transportation services.
