From Transitional to Everyday Justice in Colombia: Understanding Justicia and Convivencia in Daily Life

This chapter presents ongoing research on transitional justice in Colombia, focusing on how connections between national and local mechanisms shape peace and reconciliation outcomes. Using the Everyday Peace Indicators (EPI) methodology, researchers examine everyday experiences and local meanings of justice (justicia) and coexistence (convivencia) in three regions, particularly in Antioquia. By comparing communities with similar socioeconomic conditions but varying exposure to state-led transitional justice mechanisms, the study explores how different implementations affect local reconciliation. The findings highlight discrepancies between localized and national measurements, emphasizing the importance of capturing community-level perspectives to better understand and support sustainable peacebuilding efforts.
